Having left the rainforest treehouse for a few days after our 3 weeks of volunteering, we both got “homesick” and need some time to adapt. It was definitely one of the most special experiences during our half-year traveling in Asia. The treehouses are a living miracle to remind us how easy it is to live and reconnect with nature. It is the community’s mission to bring back that simple and sustainable lifestyle, and they have a longer term ambition to restore the forests as Malaysia is losing many wild forests to grow palm trees… Our main “job” was to build a website for them and although we were sort of reluctant to work with computers again after quitting our office jobs, knowing their vision and mission we still felt lots of motivation. The result turned out to be surprisingly satisfying! Besides the website we also occasionally taught the kids and the natives English, which was really fun and fulfilling. The place is truly magical but what we miss the most is the community there, the friends we made, the pure hearted people who work together as one family. We have learnt so much from them as well as about ourselves. Thank you for everything @rainforesttreehouse 💚🙏 We are sure life will bring us together again!
