Before coming to Oaxaca we stayed in and around San Cristobal. It is such a lovely town with vivid colors and laid-back vibe. We miss the insanely delicious food there (many more vegetarian options than in Merida and Oaxaca). We also did some sightseeing and a hot sauce workshop but the best experience we had was to volunteer for an eco-community/ family in the remote forest with no signal. Our daily tasks were very diverse and incredibly satisfying. Shanti, our host, cooks amazing vegetarian meals and has super adorable furry babies that they rescued. We could chat with Shanti forever about her countless crazy adventures from her 20 years of traveling in a bus! Traveling for a year, we concluded that meeting and helping people in the eco-communities or organic farms is undoubtedly the highlight of our trip! 🍀
